Club athlete results - Island High School Track and Field Championships
Members of the Athletics Victoria Power/Speed, Vault and Throws groups had great performances competing for their schools at the recent Vancouver Island High School Track and Field Championships in Port Alberni. Below is a summary of their results. Well done to all - it's great to see the older club athletes playing valuable roles on their school teams!
Top 5 finishers gained automatic entry into the BC High School Track and Field Championships May 31st - June 2nd in Langley BC. Good luck to all of you!
Sarah Kedves - 1st Pole Vault, 1st High Jump, 2nd Triple Jump
Sarah was named the most inspirational girls athlete. Considering she has been vaulting for only about six weeks, we can see why!
Rebecca Dutchak - 1st Long Jump, 1st Triple Jump, 2nd 200m.
Ali Gallant - 1st Shot Put, 1st Hammer Throw, 3rd Discus
Annika Weir - 2nd 1500m Racewalk, 3rd Pole Vault
Isaac Clements - 1st Pole Vault
Chris Hyggen - 2nd Triple Jump, 9th Long Jump
Dean Ciarniello - 4th Javelin, 6th Long Jump, 9th Triple Jump
Ryan Kettlewell - DQ 200m, DNS 400m
Ryan will bounce back at the BC's and show his speed!
Makayla Dickinson - 1st Long Jump, 1st Triple Jump, 2nd 400m
Makayla set a new Island Junior Girls meet record in the triple jump of 10.86m. This was her fourth meet record of the season, as she also set high school league records for Junior girls in Long Jump and Triple Jump, along with a Lower Island record for Triple Jump.
Jade Forrest - 1st Pole Vault, 4th 80m Hurdles, 6th Triple Jump
