Youth, Junior, Senior and Masters’s Power/Speed Program
Our Power/Speed program is designed for athletes in junior/senior high school, entering university and beyond. The age range of the group is typically from 16-23 years. We also welcome Master’s athletes (ages 35+) interested in power/speed events.
Group workouts are held at the University of Victoria and Oak Bay tracks, indoors, and at various parks, depending on the time of year. This group is appropriate for athletes who are prepared to make track and field one of their primary sports.
The group focuses on:
Sprints (100, 200, 400m)
Hurdles (100mH (Women), 110mH (Men), 300mH/400mH
Jumps (Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump)
Combined events: Decathlon (M), Heptathlon (W)
The Power/Speed program has four main goals:
Help athletes improve personal bests in their chosen track and field events;
Help athletes qualify for various BC Teams in the Midget, Youth, Junior and/or Senior age groups;
Provide a program that encourages athletes to stay in the sport beyond high school and into university or college.
Provide a program that encourages Senior (ages 20-34) and Master’s athletes to remain in track and field as a lifelong activity.
